With the rotating center located, 45212 has its R/H drving wheel tyre machined, a faint line on the newly machined tyre indicates where the current cutt actually is.

45212 stands on the wheel lathe, the locomotive is pushed onto the wheel lathe and the rollers take the weight of the wheel set and the rail is retracted and so the maching process can begin.

With theis tyre completed the rotating center is removed from 45212s driving wheel.

An E.W.S machinest makes his final checks before machining 45212s L/L tyre.

An E.W.S machinest places a reflective strip on 45212s tyre, the wheel is rotated and a lazer is beamed on to this reflective strip as it rotates, this gives the tyre dimentions so that the correct profile can be obtained.

45212 tyre is machined, a smoke haze can be seen at the bottom of the wheel which indicates that the tyre is being machined.
