The rivets around the firehole door on 30926 have been replaced, A section of the copper inner firebox around the firehole door has also been replaced and welded.

75029s smokebox recives a new spark arrester.

A skilled Copper smith is copper welding the brand new inner firebox for Black 5 45428 Eric Treacy. This type of welding is only under taken by coded welders, after which each of the welds are ultra sonicley tested for flaws, if a flaw is found they have to be ground out, re-welded and then tested again!

75029 is reciving a piston and valve examination. Also the engine is being fitted with T.P.W.S, to enable it to run to Whitby, The 50H shed code is Grosmont, the SC indicates that the engine was at one time fitted with a self cleaning smokebox.

6619s smokebox looks supurb in black gloss, shame it wont last long!!!

The safety valve bonnets on 45212 have been removed to ajust both safety valves. 45212s back safety valve (right) is set to 45212s working pressure which is 225psi, The front valve (left) is set to 230 psi, the ajustment tool can be seen on the right next to the back safety valve. This must be done while engine is in steam and witness them both lifting at the set pressures. After which the bonnets are refitted and sealed to avoid anyone tampering with them after the have been set.

60007 stands in the back of the running shed whilst it recives attention to its exspansion links.
